Ghost of Frankenstein (Universal, 1942). Insert (14" X 36"). The fourth entry in Universal Pictures' Frankenstein series, this was the first to feature an actor other than Boris Karloff in the role of the Monster. This time, the neck electrodes were worn by noted horror actor Lon Chaney Jr., hot off his triumph in The Wolfman (1941). The film, which picks up where the previous movie, Son of Frankenstein (1939) leaves off, features veteran chiller actors Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Ralph Bellamy, Lionel Atwill, Bela Lugosi, and Evelyn Ankers, making for a strong entry in the series and an extremely enjoyable film. This highly desirable insert had pinholes in the corners, as well as a single pinhole in the top center, and a tear in the image area that runs across Atwill's forehead, but professional restoration, which includes airbrushing in all of the borders, has expertly addressed these issues, making the poster look as fresh and clean as the day it was printed. If you're looking for the perfect piece to begin, or continue, a Universal Horror collection, this is it! Fine+ on Paper.
