DescriptionGate of Hell (Pathe Overseas/Sofradis, 1954). Folded, Fine+. Trimmed French Grande (44.75" X 61") Clement Hurel Artwork.
Director Teinosuke Kinugasa directs the talented Machiko Kyo, Kazuo Hasegawa, and Isao Yamagata in this taut drama from Japan's Heian period. Beautifully shot in Eastman color, this film gained numerous international accolades like the Palme d'Or (then known as the Grand Prix) from the Cannes Film Festival, as well as an honorary Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Making its Heritage debut, this poster has retained gorgeous color in its Clement Hurel illustration, and shows light edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, mild creases, and a small amount of image ghosting. The borders have been trimmed extending slightly into the printing. Folded, Fine+.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
