Description

    Funny Face (Paramount, 1957). One Sheet (27" X 41").
In a storyline reminiscent of My Fair Lady, fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire) - a character based on famed real-life photographer Richard Avedon - transforms meek and mild bookstore clerk Jo Stockton (Audrey Hepburn) into Paris's hottest supermodel, falling in love with her in the process. Based on George and Ira Gershwin's hit 1927 Broadway musical, in which Astaire also starred, the film was a major success for Hepburn, who had risen to fame several years earlier with her Oscar-winning performance in Roman Holiday. As a child, Audrey Hepburn dreamed of becoming a ballet dancer and had taken lessons in her native Netherlands, and later England. When she realized she would not make it as a prima ballerina, she turned to acting, and the rest is history. Hepburn gets to showcase her dancing abilities to great effect in this fun romantic comedy, with her dream partner Fred Astaire. The great Gershwin tunes in this delightful film include the title song, "S'wonderful," as well as "How Long Has this Been Going On," "He Loves and She Loves," and "Think Pink." There has been touchup to the folds and a censorship stamp in the top right corner. Very Fine on Linen.
