    Description

Frankenstein (Universal, 1931). Very Fine-. Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Released shortly after Todd Browning's unexpectedly successful Dracula in 1931, Frankenstein was the second film in the annals of Universal's classic monster movies. Shot on a budget of less than $300,000, Frankenstein helped to bring Universal back on financial track in 1931, at a time when the studio was writing with nothing but red ink. In retrospect, it is clear that these films not only saved the studio, but also became an integral part of popular culture for generations to come. Collectors will be thrilled to see this lobby, referred to as the "torture" card, featuring Karloff alongside Dwight Frye playing Fritz, the doctor's hunchbacked assistant. From one of the most famous scenes in the entire horror genre, this lobby card has a few pinholes at the top, light creases, and a couple of minor unobtrusive stains. There is some slight toning in the borders, and the card has painted writing on the verso advertising Panama Flo, which does not show on the front. Overall, it presents very well and would look excellent on display. Very Fine-.
