DescriptionFrankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (Universal, 1943). Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14") Karl Godwin Artwork.
Despite the Monster's top billing, this is primarily a sequel to The Wolf Man, as the story centers on Larry Talbot and his quest to use Doctor Frankenstein's secrets to rid himself of the curse of lycanthropy. The climactic battle is a bit brief, but still cathartic for the ten-year-old kid in all of us. Featured in this lot is a lobby with an iconic damsel-in-distress shot of the Monster carrying off Ilona Massey, a card showing Dennis Hoey at the discovery of the dead grave robber, and an excellent closeup of Patrick Knowles and Ilona Massey at the film's conclusion. The cards generally show mild edge wear, corner bends and bumps, and light creases. Two cards have unobtrusive stains and a few tears into the background with paper tape on the verso, and one card has smudging in the borders. Fine/Very Fine.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
