DescriptionFrankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (Universal, 1943). Insert (13.75" X 36") Karl Godwin Artwork.
A trendsetter at Universal studios, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man kicked off a series of crossover "ensemble" films that brought some of the screen's most memorable monsters together in new terrifying tales until the end of the franchise in 1948. Lon Chaney Jr. returns for his second appearance as Wolf Man Lawrence Talbot, and for the first and only time, the great Bela Lugosi finally dons the role of Frankenstein's Monster to much studio fanfare. It's no wonder that the dynamic battle between beasts has become a favorite image among horror fans, it's striking lines and ghoulish colors a perfect taste of action anticipated by eager audiences. Prior to professional restoration, this insert had fold wear and separations, pinholes in the borders, and a couple of minor border tears. There was a diagonal tear from the left border through the Monster's knee into the background, and the the left and right borders have been airbrushed. There is a slight .25" trim along the left edge that has not been repaired. Fine+ on Paper.
Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
