    Fox Stock (Fox, 1929). One Sheet (28" X 41.75").
Fox Pictures released this special one sheet to exhibitors announcing their slate of films already released in 1929 and a few of their upcoming films for 1930. The intention was to assure them that Fox Pictures would continue to release silent films and that they didn't have to worry about installing all that expensive sound equipment. This was a definite concern for exhibitors. With the Depression just underway, the last thing theatre owners needed was to convert their existing theatres over to sound - which was still a bit of a fad at the time. And even though Fox was promoting their silent films with this poster, William Fox himself was one of the first promoters of sound film as he owned the Movietone process and used it in 1927 with the release of Murnau's Sunrise. It would only be a short time until sound would completely take over the industry and even convert some of the films listed on this poster. This incredibly rare poster includes scenes from some of Fox's major hits of the year including In Old Arizona, Speakeasy, The Sky Hawk and John Ford's Men Without Women. The poster has some very tiny chips in the edges and some minor separations at a few of the center points. Very Fine-.
