Fox Film Corporation Exhibitor's Books (Fox, 1927 & 1928-1929). 24th Annual and Talking Features Issue Exhibitor Books (2) (Multiple Pages) (9.5" X 12.5").
This lot includes two excellent high grade exhibitor books from Fox, one from 1927 and one from the real beginning of the sound era in 1928-1929. The 1927 book has wonderful images from top illustrators of the day: Marion Jochimsen (did the lobby cards for The Big Trail), and Luiz Felipe Usabal Hernandez, one of the best risque pre-Code artists did illustrations for the book. See his The Soul of Passion, What Price Glory, and Balaoo images in this issue. There are two-page spreads with the photos of Fox directors and players also. The 1928-1929 issue features a wonderful blend of colored photographs and terrific art from the best of the best. There are three more by Marion Jochimsen (beautiful two-page spread for Will Rogers in They Had to See Paris, Frozen Justice, and The Lost Waltz), and a great illustration by "Hap" Hadley for The Dollar Princess. There's a beautiful two-page spread on The Cockeyed World with Lily Damita, and a colorful pre-Code painting of chorus cuties from Melodies of 1930. There are light smudges, scuffs on the back cover of one, and some spine and surface wear on the covers. Fine/Very Fine.
