Description
Yojimbo (Seneca International,1961). Autographed Limited Original U.S. Release One Sheet (27" X 41") and Press Kit (11" X 14").Dashiell Hammett's noir novel Red Harvest inspired director Akira Kurosawa's film Yojimbo, which, in turn, inspired two other films: Sergio Leone's Western A Fistful of Dollars and Walter Hill's gangster drama Last Man Standing. Of all the versions of this tale, Kurosawa's is considered by many to be the best. This poster, from the film's original release in the US, was designed by Everett Aison and reflects the stark look of a Japanese woodcut (signed by the artist). The film received a tiny distribution in this country by a small distributor, making this magnificent poster exceedingly rare. It was the general consensus at the time that there was not a market for Samurai films. This poster for one of Kurosawa's classics has only been offered by Heritage once before. Also included is the presskit with a matching cover, the theme song on a 33 1/3 record disk, advertising material, cast information, and a few sheets of stationary (minor signs of handling). Rolled, Near Mint.
