Description
The Seven Samurai (Toho, 1954). Japanese B3 (17.5" X 25") Regional Style.Director Akira Kurosawa created some of the finest and most influential samurai films ever committed to celluloid. None are as grand as his epic tale about a small town that hires a group of unemployed samurai to help defend against attacks from ruthless bandits. The focus on themes such as camaraderie, sacrifice, class structure, and honor, as well as moments of breathtaking action, is what has cemented Seven Samurai in the minds of many as one of the greatest films ever made. Several Kurosawa regulars participated in the making of the film, including Toshiro Mifune in a stand out performance, and the gorgeous cinematography of Asakazu Nakai. Offered here is a gorgeous country-of-origin regional style poster from the original release, making this a rare and highly sought after collectible. Often separate posters were issued for differing regions of Japan. These posters were often printed with the white portion as part of the poster with which the theater name may be applied, as is the case with this poster. The poster has some edge and fold wear, wrinkling, and light toning along the left edge as well as small amounts of staining. There is writing in the imprint area. Fine/Very Fine.
