    Description

The Bicycle Thief (Ente Nazionale Industrie Cinematografiche (ENIC), 1948). Italian 2-Folio (38.5" X 55"). This great post-war Italian film, combined with Rossellini's "Open City" and Visconti's "The Earth Trembles," ushered in a historical trend in filmmaking called Neorealism. A number of critic's have called this film the greatest movie ever made. It's on many critic's top 3 list - and on almost every well-known critic's top 10. It's considered the greatest film of the neorealist movement. One that Arthur Miller called, " A portrait of the human soul." Director Vittorio De Sica's masterpiece retains its power nearly sixty years after its first release. Artist Ercole Brini's image of the warm hearted aspects of the film belies the film's theme of uncompromising post-war unemployment. This beautiful copy has only the most minor fold and crossfold wear touch-up. Very Fine+ on Linen.
