School for Love (Cino del Duca, 1957). First Release Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.5") Lardani Artwork.
Brigitte Bardot plays a young student at the Conservatory of Vienna, pining for Jean Marais' handsome professor, in this breezy mid-fifties B.B. vehicle. It was adapted in part by husband Roger Vadim, from an original novel by Vicki Baum - whose 1929 story, Menschen im Hotel, was the basis for the Academy Award-winning Grand Hotel. Vadim's treatment didn't necessarily lend itself to any nominations, per se, but then again... to compare Bardot's enigmatic performance to that of Greta Garbo would be like trying to compare apples and oranges! This wonderful Italian 4 - fogli is a Heritage first, and features a brilliant rendering of the film's star from Lardani. It shows some fold separation, pinholes (including into the interior), unobtrusive stains, and small chips and tears in the borders and folds, in addition to mild fold toning. There is a sheet of tax stamps in the top border, along with a few pieces of archival tape on the verso. From the collection of John McBride. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
