    Description

Mazurka (Oscar Rosenbergs Filmbyra, 1935). Swedish One Sheet (26" X 39.5").
Mazurka begins with Pola Negri killing unfaithful pianist Albrecht Schoenhals in the club in which she is performing. When she comes to trial for the murder, the true facts behind the crime come out in flashback--letting us see what sacrifices Negri has made and what motivated the final burst of violence. Negri started her film career in Germany with director Ernst Lubitsch. Their films together were so successful that they were called to Hollywood, where they made the classic Forbidden Paradise. However, the coming of sound was a disaster for Negri with her thick Polish accent. Her return to Germany coincided with the rise of Hitler--a fact that did not sit well with her. She made a few more films in Germany, and then retired to the U.S. There is some light edge wear with mild creasing along the edges and a few tears in the top border that extend slightly into the background with archival tape in the verso. Rolled, Very Fine-.
