Les Visiteurs du Soir (Minerva, 1945). First Post-War Release Italian Foglio (27" X 39.5") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Later known for his landmark drama Children of Paradise, auteur Marcel Carné largely avoided the overzealous censors of occupied France by directing this fantastical romance. French actors Alain Cuny and Arletty pose as wandering minstrels attending an engagement celebration at a castle, but are really servants of the Devil hell-bent on destroying the future of all involved. Marie Déa plays the pure hearted maiden, with Fernand Ledoux as her nobleman father and Marcel Herrand as her ill-fitted fiance. It's Heritage's first time to sell this title, and this Italian foglio showcases beautiful artwork by the skilled Anselmo Ballester. Professional restoration has addressed fold wear, pinholes in the borders, and small bits of paper loss at or near the borders. The poster has some tears in the borders and interior, included tears in the background and mirrored tearing in the right side of the horizontal fold. Fine+ on Linen.
