    Description

    Leni Riefenstahl in S.O.S. Iceberg (Universal, 1933). Very Fine-. German Portrait Lobby Cards (2) (9." X 11.5" & 9.25" X 12"). Foreign.
Country of origin, glossy finish German lobby cards from the German adaptation of this film, which was shot simultaneously in English (also starring Leni Riefenstahl, but with American co-star Rod La Rocque). It is the tale of the real-life Alfred Lothar Wegener polar expedition of 1929-30. Before becoming a director, Riefenstahl first starred in several mountain/adventure films directed by her idol, Arnold Fanck, from whom she learned cinematographic techniques. This film marks the last of the US/German film collaborations, as the Nazi party was taking over power in Germany. Offered are two beautiful portraits of Riefenstahl. The cards have light edge wear, small creases, unobtrusive stains, and soft surface scuffs. Both cards have embossed governmental stamps on the left side. One of the cards seems to be slightly trimmed in the upper and lower borders.
