Description

La Strada (Paramount, 1954). Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78"). Enrico De Seta Artwork.
Heritage proudly presents one of the few remaining original release, country of origin posters for a film of unspeakably profound influence. Italian maestro of the movies, Federico Fellini, put heart and soul into this divisive drama with an ardor above and beyond that of any of his other works. As the famed director himself described, "This film is a complete catalogue of my entire mythological world, a dangerous representation of my identity that was undertaken with no precedent whatsoever." A story so personal that he based the protagonist completely off of his wife and lead actress, Giulietta Masina. He toiled over every aspect of dialog, scenery, and cinematography down to the most minute detail. He pushed his performers with a ferocious perfectionism, demanding an exact realization of his vision and driving their talent to new heights, an experience to which Anthony Quinn would later give effusive gratitude. Winning the first ever Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and in excess of fifty international awards, La Strada was as much a resounding success in America as it was a source of controversy in Italy. There are small mirrored paper lifts in the background of the upper section, a few ink date stamps in the background, a stamp in the upper left corner, a stain in the lower border, small chips along the edges, pinholes in the background and borders, and soft surface rippling. Heritage has never offered this extremely rare original release Italian poster before. Poster is in two sections, as originally printed. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
