    La Notte (De Laurentiis, 1961). Italian 4 - Foglio (54" X 76").
Italian artist Giuliano Nistri delivered perhaps the best interpretation of director Michelangelo Antonioni's second film of his landmark trilogy (L'Adventura and L'Eclisse) made in the early 1960s. Nistri has started with the title, The Night, and shows the title and characters in darkened shadows. An icy blue moonlight color palette highlights the coldness of both the marriage of Marcello Mastroianni and Jeanne Moreau, and the empty sexual escapade with seductress Valentina (Monica Vitti), who looms in the background with questions of her own. Stanley Kubrick always listed this as one of his favorite films. The borders have been airbrushed and touchup applied to fold wear with small chips and tears, a chip at the top left, a hole at the bottom left, tears in the top borders and pinholes. A small piece of a snipe is attached in the bottom right background, and there are ink and tax stamps in the top left, bottom right, and bleed through from writing on the verso (forehead). This country-of-origin poster is still absolutely stunning, and won't come around again soon! Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
