Description

La Dolce Vita (Cineriz, 1959). Italian 4 - Foglio (55" X 77") Style B.
The dizzying chases and dreamlike meanderings through the Via Veneto in Rome have become some of the most iconic images in all of cinema. Federico Fellini's masterpiece is a groundbreaking allegory of life itself, showcasing, in a visually striking manner, the randomness of love, tragedy, fame, and lust. Fellini filmed this picture at the dawning of the 1960s, ushering in the style, freedom, and experimentation that defined the decade. Marcello Mastroianni stars as a jaded reporter who is entranced by movie star Anita Ekberg and struggles to find meaning in his life. Paper for this title is highly prized, and this very rare country-of-origin style B, 4-foglio is perhaps the hardest piece to come by. The poster is called the "Cafe Style" and features gorgeous images of Mastroianni, Ekberg, Anouk Aimee, Yvonne Furneaux, Magali Noel and Walter Santesso. Touchup was applied to a small tear in the upper left and in the image area, a chip in the top vertical cross fold, and surface paper loss in the right corner. There is a bit of smudging in the top border and a tape stain in the lower left. The linen is lifting slightly in the upper right corner and bottom border with small tears. None of these imperfections detract from the impact of this very special poster. Very Fine- on Linen.
