    Gate of Hell (Daiei, 1953). Fine/Very Fine. Japanese Lobby Cards (7) (10.25" X 14.25") & Trimmed Japanese Lobby Card (9" X 13.25").
Considered one of Japan's greatest early export films, this period drama from director Teinosuke Kinugasa took full advantage of Eastman's color technology with sumptuous results. Aided by excellent performances by Machiko Kyo playing a self-sacrificing lady in waiting and Kazuo Hasegawa as her jealous would-be suitor and samurai, this engrossing picture gained such accolades as the Cannes Film Festival's Grand Prix and an honorary Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. Making their first appearance at Heritage, these vibrant, country of origin Japanese lobby cards show slight edge wear, pinholes, mild creases, and small tears. There are also paper lifts, surface scuffs, and faint staining. One of the cards has a bit of paint in the interior and another card has been trimmed to the image. Fine/Very Fine.
