Description

Anime Buie (Tiber-film, 1916). Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78").
A beloved figure of Italian silent cinema, Emilio Luigi Carlo Giuseppe Maria Ghione's film career had a humble start in 1908 in Turin, Italy, working mainly as a stuntman who specialized in falling off horses and some supporting parts as an actor. When he moved to Rome in 1911, his fortunes took off with starring roles in such films as St. Francis and Josephine, eventually becoming known as a director who could handle notorious divas such as Lina Cavalieri and Francesca Bertini. However, his biggest success hit in 1914 with the introduction of his noble outlaw character, Za La Mort. Playing the honest French apache (a street criminal and gangster), Ghione strutted his way in thirteen features and three serials through 1924. Anime Buie (Dark Souls) was the fourth film in the series, co-starring Kally Sambucini, Ghione's life-long partner, and the renown Italian diva, Hesperia. Voted in 1914 as the most beautiful woman in Italian cinema, Hesperia actually plays a version of herself on screen, transforming from a knife-wielding street ruffian named Casque d' Or, into a famed dancer, singer, and socialite...called Hesperia. Featuring beautiful full body portraits of the acclaimed diva in both of her roles, this poster has is a separation in the right border at the upper horizontal fold of the lower section, a small mirrored hole in the lower horizontal fold and upper horizontal fold, toning in the folds and left border, and small fold separations and crossfold separations. This Heritage first is the only known copy of this 4-fogli. Folded, Fine/Very Fine.
