    Description

A Woman in the Night (Union Artistic Films, 1924). French Grande (47.5" X 63").
Lilli (Lily) Damita (1904-1994) was a French born actress who made several silent films in her native country before her first leading role in Das Spielzeug von Paris (1925) by director Michael Curtiz, who she also married that year. In 1928, at the behest of Samuel Goldwyn, she relocated to Hollywood. Over the next several years Damita worked on several successful films with the likes of Gary Cooper, Maurice Chevalier, Laurence Olivier, Cary Grant, and James Cagney. She was also married to Errol Flynn from 1935-1942. A Heritage first, this country-of-origin French grande offers gorgeous stone litho images of Damita in one of her early silent film roles. The artwork is attributed to G. Elizabeth. Only light touchup has been applied to the folds. Very Fine+ on Linen.
