    Description

Five Star Final (First National, 1931). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
Edward G. Robinson gives a brilliant performance as a ruthless newspaper editor who, in order to build up circulation, ruins a respected woman's reputation. She, along with her husband, commit suicide. Based on the New York Evening Graphic, a sensational tabloid paper published from 1924 to 1932, the film is full of great performances. Co-starring Boris Karloff, Mae Marsh, Aline MacMahon, Ona Munson, H.B. Warner and directed by Mervyn LeRoy (Little Caesar). As hard-hitting today as it was in 1931, Five Star Final is one of pre-Code's finest dramas. The stone litho poster has been professionally restored to replace slightly trimmed upper and lower borders by 1/2", a few minor chips in two borders, and fold and crossfold wear. We've never seen this poster before and may be the only copy to have ever been offered in auction. Very Fine- on Linen.
