    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Considered the prevailing standard of film noir gold, This Gun for Hire marks the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, a duo that would become icons of the genre. The film was so popular that both of their careers exploded and the pair became an on-screen team that were featured together in several other pictures. A minor actor at the time, Ladd's sensational performance as a vengeful hit man eclipsed that of Robert Preston's protagonist, giving Ladd top billing in future reissues of the film. This highly acclaimed poster prominently features Lake on the cusp of super-stardom with her "peek-a-boo" hairstyle, which would soon became her trademark. Over the years, the one sheet format for this title has consistently remained one of the most sought after in the hobby. The poster has a small trim to the top border of 1/2" and 1/4" added to the bottom border. There is airbrush work to both the top border into the first names of cast as well as in the bottom border. None of the printing was missing from upper or lower border. The image is almost completely untouched and displays strong colors. with only retouch to the folds.
