    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). Three Sheet (41" X 79.5").
As Phillip Raven, Alan Ladd portrays a ruthless professional killer whose boss, Willard Gates (Laird Cregar), double crosses Raven by paying him off for his latest hit in marked bills. Once Raven discovers the double cross, he comes gunning for Gates, assisted by nightclub singer Ellen Graham (Veronica Lake). This film marks the first screen pairing of Ladd and Lake, a combination that would prove a winner not only in this film, but in a string of successes to follow. Even though Ladd had fourth billing, the studio was aware of his potential and featured his image prominently on most of the paper for the film. There is touchup to the folds, pinholes in the borders and background, small chips at the crossfolds, a minor chip in Alan Ladd's temple and another in Veronica Lake's hair, small chips and tears in the bottom and left borders, and one small chip and a tear in the upper right border. There are some scratches below the title in the dark background, faint airbrushing in the borders into the image and paint drips in the left border. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
