    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). Folded, Very Fine. One Sheet (27" X 41").
At the dawn of the film noir era, Paramount cast Veronica Lake with minor actor Alan Ladd in Frank Tuttle's now iconic murder-for-hire mystery. Both of their careers took off after their acclaimed performances, and the pair became an on-screen team that featured together in several other pictures. Alan Ladd's popularity as the conflicted anti-hero actually overtook that of Robert Preston, the male protagonist and the original top-bill actor. Ladd features alongside Lake at her most alluring on this acclaimed one sheet, considered by many in the hobby to be one of the greatest movie posters ever designed. To this day, it is still among they most sought-after items for noir enthusiasts. Visible are such indications of handling as small fold separations, a few pinholes, a couple of tears in the borders, as well as faint ink stamp bleedthrough in the left border. There is a piece of paper tape bracing the upper crossfold on the verso, but these issues do nothing to distract from the poster's incredible condition and presentation.
