As the prevailing standard of film noir gold, This Gun for Hire was the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, a duo that would become icons of the genre. The film was so popular that both of their careers exploded and the pair became an on-screen team that were featured together in several other pictures. Ladd is sensational as a hit man who seeks revenge against a man who double crossed him, and teams with Lake in an uneasy alliance. Sensitive professional restoration has addressed fold wear with some separation and tears, and chipping in the borders. Thanks to these artful interventions, this iconic poster has a beautiful appearance.
