Description

The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, 1941). Six Sheet (80.5" X 80").
Collectors have been waiting a long while for this spectacular six sheet, and Heritage is thrilled to present the only copy to have appeared in the public market. It was inspired by the third film version of Dashiell Hammett's detective novel, and is without a doubt, the best. This classic film noir was directed by John Huston, a long-established screenwriter who was making his directorial debut. Humphrey Bogart would achieve true stardom portraying Sam Spade, a hard-boiled San Francisco private eye, who at times uses unscrupulous methods as a means to an end, but also adheres to his own personal code of honor. With an outstanding ensemble cast of Sydney Greenstreet (in his debut role), Mary Astor, and Peter Lorre, this film literally wrote the text book for the film noir genre! This highly elusive six sheet shows misfolds, torn tack holes and stains in the borders, a dust shadow in the left border, and crossfold separations. There is a small hole in the "S" of "Bros." and small holes in the border and within the image. These minor signs of handling do not detract from the incredible "WOW" factor of this poster. It's unlikely another six sheet will surface soon, so don't let this one slip away! From the Theaters of Old Detroit Collection. Folded, Very Fine-.
