Description

The Maltese Falcon (Warner Brothers, 1941). One Sheet (27" X 41").
A smash hit from the instant it premiered, few films could ever hope to top The Maltese Falcon in terms of writing, execution, or lasting impression. John Huston's monumental directorial debut brought Dashiell Hammett's novel to life with more accuracy and excitement than either of its predecessors. Most importantly, its massive success was the final impetus that propelled Humphrey Bogart from a perpetually typecast B movie gangster to the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Always in great demand, this classic one sheet is an absolute must-have piece of film history for any serious collector. Professionally restored, this iconic poster once showed fold wear, a few staple holes, minor edge tears, and small paper lifts in the upper border. It had tape stains at the fold edges and crossfolds, and some small bits of paper loss in Bogart's image at the top crossfold. Also addressed was a diagonal 9" tear from the left side of the upper border into the upper left background, and the borders have been airbrushed, making this fantastic poster a top-notch display item. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
