Description

The Lady from Shanghai (Columbia C.E.I.A.D., 1948). Fine on Linen. Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 77.5") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Anselmo Ballester illustrated a sensational piece when he painted the artwork used on this striking Italian 2 fogli poster for The Lady from Shanghai. Rita Hayworth becomes one of the screen's ultimate femme fatales as she seduces Orson Welles, an Irish sailor, onto a pleasure yacht bound from New York to San Francisco and into a complex murder plot. Hayworth and Welles were married at the time of production, and although Rita was known for her beautiful auburn locks, Welles demanded she dye her hair blonde for the lead role. Considered to be one of the greatest film noirs ever made, this rare Italian poster is equally as impressive as it has been offered less than a handful of times by Heritage. Backed on linen, the poster has received touchup to fold wear, tears throughout, crossfold separation within the main vertical fold, and paper loss in each of the borders. Although parts of the borders have been replaced and skillfully airbrushed, the center image is in wonderful condition. Center fold lines have also been lightly airbrushed.
