    The Blue Dahlia (Paramount, 1946). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
    This is a first time offer from Heritage for this scarce U.S. release large format. Raymond Chandler's tough story and script is well served with a glossy look and the hard-edged performances drawn by director George Marshall from a superior cast. The mystery concerns a recently discharged military man played by Alan Ladd, who returns home to find his wife has been unfaithful and is presently carrying on with club owner Howard da Silva, over whom her hold is not entirely romantic. After stomping out into the rain, Ladd learns his wife has been murdered, and must race to prove his innocence before the police pick him up. Veronica Lake plays a mysterious blonde who also has an interest in Ladd. One of the great noir trilogy of the Ladd-Lake teaming. Professional restoration has addressed some folds with small chips, tears in the borders and folds, and paper loss in the border and at the join. Fine+ on Linen.
