The Big Heat (Columbia, 1954). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Italian Locandina (12.5" X 27.75") Anselmo Ballester Artwork.
Perhaps the most striking artwork issued to promote the film and assuredly one of the most evocative Italian images produced for a film noir classic, Heritage is pleased to offer this piece for the first time. Italian artist Anselmo Ballester expertly captures the gritty essence of the film on this magnificent Italian locandina, depicting Glenn Ford in a guarded pose with Gloria Grahame clinging to him for life and the malevolent Lee Marvin leering in the upper left corner. Fritz Lang, German creator of Metropolis and M, directs this dark and chilling crime drama that showcases Ford's tough guy image. The poster shows such indications of handling as mild fold wear, some creases and extra horizontal folds, pinholes, and faint toning. Also apparent are ink stamps in the imprint area and in the bottom border, as well as a small dated ink stamp in the left background. There are small pieces of paper tape on the verso behind some of the pinholes that are not visible from the front.
