Laura (20th Century Fox, 1944). One Sheet (27" X 41"). When asked why she turned down the title role in this classic film noir, Hedy Lamarr replied, "They sent me the script, not the score." Indeed, the haunting theme is often cited as the film's most enduring contribution, but the theme was just a last-minute composition by David Raksin. He wrote it over a weekend, apparently inspired by a break-up letter he received from his wife. Had director Otto Preminger gone with his original choice, Duke Ellington's "Sophisticated Lady," his film may never have achieved its long-lasting renown. The film stars, Gene Tierney, Dana Andrews, and Vincent Price. This poster was almost mint were it not for a 12" clean tear that runs diagonally from the right border down through Dana Andrews's jawline and into his tie. The poster looks magnificent. Very Fine+ on Linen.
