Description

Gilda (Columbia, 1946). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
No other image of Rita Hayworth comes close to being as iconic as this style B one sheet. She absolutely smolders in her most famous role as the sultry femme fatale from this Charles Vidor film noir, a performance so evocative it would come to seal her status as a Hollywood legend. The scintillating love-hate triangle that unfolds between Hayworth, George MacReady, and Glenn Ford is perhaps the most torrid affair to ever hit the silver screen, its abundance of ill-fated passion and unfiltered loathing overflowing into a tale of underworld treachery. Even more scandalous, Hayworth's portrayal as the seductive Gilda pushed the restrictive Production Code to its limits, her level of sheer sex appeal considered almost voyeuristic in its day. Professionally restored, this poster no longer displays slight fold wear, a few minor chips, pinholes, and a tear in the right border. The borders have been mostly airbrushed and the linen has been trimmed to the borders, extending slightly into the upper edge. As most of its wear was peripheral and has been rendered imperceptible, this iconic and gorgeous poster is a piece worthy of any collection.
