Director Billy Wilder's classic story of lust, greed, and betrayal set the standard for both the film noir genre and the femme fatale archetype. Barbara Stanwyck is at her sinister and seductive best as the rapacious trophy wife who schemes with her beau, Fred MacMurray, to murder her husband in an insurance fraud scheme. Edward G. Robinson contributes a memorable role as the dogged claims adjuster. Featuring some of the snappiest repartee of the era, the movie was nominated for Best Writing, along with every other major Academy Award. Backed to linen, the poster received touchup to edge tears, folds, fold separations, puncture holes, and spot paper loss in the lower titles. A 3.5" x 1.75" segment was detached at top, with part of the border replaced. Thanks to these attentions, this iconic poster presents well. Property from a Distinguished Collection.
