Dead Reckoning (Columbia, 1947). Very Fine- on Linen. Insert (14" X 36").
This gritty, fast-talking noir showcases Humphrey Bogart in classic form: cynical, tough, and relentlessly driven. As Captain Rip Murdock, Bogart unravels a shadowy mystery involving murder, betrayal, and Coral Chandler (played by the vivacious Lizabeth Scott), a femme fatale with secrets of her own. The film's postwar paranoia, its sharp dialogue, and moody black-and-white cinematography nail the dark atmosphere of classic film noir. Backed to linen to address creases and wrinkling within the image, these issues have received no restoration. There has been touch-up to most of the borders to address small splits and pinholes.
