    Description

Dark Passage (Warner Bros., 1948). Fine on Linen. Italian 2 - Fogli (39.25" X 55.75") Luigi Martinati Artwork.
Italian artist Luigi Martinati created what is possibly the best poster for Delmer Daves' film about a man (Humphrey Bogart) wrongly convicted of his wife's murder. With the aid of an artist (Lauren Bacall), Bogart escapes prison and seeks to find his wife's real killer. It was the perfect vehicle for the real-life couple of Bogart and Bacall to re-team onscreen. It's also notable as a quirky film noir with Bogart's character only heard and not seen in the first half of the film, showing his face only after his character's plastic surgery. Professionally restored, this large format poster once displayed slight edge and fold wear, some fold separations, pinholes, and moderate tears. There were a few small chips in the borders and folds, and the top right corner of the poster had paper loss through the artist credit and part of the upper background. The borders and white background have been airbrushed, completing this 2 - fogli's restoration.
