Description
Body and Soul (United Artists, 1947). Australian One Sheet (27" X 40"). Simply stated, this is one of the best movies to ever climb into the boxing arena. John Garfield gave one of his most riveting performances as an ambitious boxer, climbing his way to the top, by any means necessary. This was the first independent production for Garfield and it earned him a coveted Oscar nomination. Shortly after this production, Garfield's career started to suffer when he was accused of being a communist sympathizer and was black-listed in Hollywood. This Australian one sheet has pinholes in the corners, edge wear and tears, and light fold wear with crossfold separations. There is toning where the poster was framed, Scotch tape on the back of the edges and fold lines, and a corner chip with a splice that has Scotch tape on the front and back. The artwork of Garfield, Lilli Palmer and Hazel Brooks is similar to the American paper, but done in beautiful stone litho.
