    Description

Fatty and the Broadway Stars (Keystone-S.A. Lynch, 1915). One Sheet (28" X 41").
Fatty Arbuckle directs and stars this silent comedy about a hapless sweeper who manages to disrupt a series of shoots on a film lot, with every major Keystone player appearing as themselves (with emphasis on the Broadway stars) -- Mack Sennett, William Collier, Mae Busch, Chester Conklin, Polly Moran, Al St. John, and Ford Sterling to name just a handful. Asheville, North Caroline native S.A. Lynch began buying up and managing movie theaters in the South in 1909 and by the mid 1910s obtained a 25-year exclusive right to distribute Paramount motion pictures in eleven states. In 1917, he bought into the Triangle Distributing Company and released several films under the designation "Distributed by S.A. Lynch Enterprises." As turmoil within Triangle escalated, Lynch bought out the other two owners. He continued to make a profit by re-cutting and re-releasing previously created Triangle films well into 1919. Arbuckle, Sennett and Collier all appear on this rare stone litho one sheet. Prior to expert restoration, there were tears and chips throughout and the left and right borders were slightly trimmed, but the poster now displays beautifully with few signs of these flaws. Fine- on Linen.
