Description

The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939). Half Sheet (22" X 28") Style A and Partial Pressbook (28 Pages + Covers, 16" X 18").
Perhaps more than any other film, the enduring magic of The Wizard of Oz has proved impervious to time, as this wonderful picture has delighted generations of children, both young and old, for over six decades. Judy Garland brings to life Dorothy Gale, the child in all of us, who yearns to escape to a perfect place over the rainbow. Along her way to the magical land of Oz, Dorothy encounters a host of unforgettable characters: the clever Scarecrow, the sentimental Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, witches both good and bad, and the wonderful Wizard of Oz. After almost a decade, Heritage has the pleasure to once again bring to auction an original half sheet from one of cinema's most beloved productions. It's pure visual candy, with charming portraits of all the leading characters, and inset of Dorothy, Tin Man, and Scarecrow on the Yellow Brick Road, as well as an image of Dorothy in Oz with Glinda the Good Witch. An absolute collector's dream, the half sheet will turn heads as a cornerstone of any fine collection. Display-ready, touchup has been applied to the folds and color enhancement has been applied liberally within the image due to some sun fading. Airbrush work has been applied to the borders to address small chips. If that's not enticing enough, we've also included a Exploitation Section from the original release pressbook. The front and back covers are filled with color renderings of all the characters, and the interior pages are chock full of promotional pieces and posters, some of which have never been seen at auction. The amazing assortment includes sheet music, 20" X 60" cut-outs, six large cut-out hangers, valances, banners, flags, 40" X 60" displays, a seven foot Telescopic Streamer Display, and instructions for an incredible "Back to School with the Wizard of Oz" campaign. The book was folded once in half horizontally, there is a small tear with tape on each page, and writing in the upper right of the front cover. The wear on these pieces does not diminish their awe-inspiring effect. An incredible opportunity for one very lucky collector! Very Good/Fine on Paper.
