Description

The Wizard of Oz (MGM, 1939). Fine+. Title Lobby Card (11" X 14") Al Hirschfeld Title Artwork.
Undoubtedly one of Hollywood's greatest triumphs from its Golden Age, The Wizard of Oz has enchanted audiences for generations with its heartfelt tale of Dorothy, a sweet young girl from Kansas portrayed with luminous charm by Judy Garland, who finds herself lost in a fantastical Technicolor world, yearning to return home. Since its 1939 release, the film has continued to grow in popularity, initially through repeated television broadcasts and later through widespread home video releases, securing its place as a timeless cultural touchstone. Beloved for its innovative visual effects, whimsical set designs, unforgettable characters, and iconic songs, the film's emotional resonance continues to speak to the child in all of us. Its critical acclaim was affirmed at the 1940 Academy Awards, where it earned Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song for the enduring classic "Over the Rainbow." Offered here is the exceptional title card featuring beautiful headshots of Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, and Jack Haley across the top. Below, the title is rendered with delightful Al Hirschfeld artwork. Some restoration, including touchup and replacement, primarily along the borders/at the corners has endeavored to address several breached pinholes. Signs of use include creasing, corner wear, small border tears, very minute trimming along the left border, and an area of minor foxing within the upper left section of the card. Collectors - you will not want to miss out!
