Description

The Golem (Paramount, 1920). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
The Golem, one of the landmarks of early German Expressionism, was released in the U.S. in 1920. Actor-director Paul Wegener plays the Golem, the mythical creature of Jewish legend. It's a monstrous clay figure, brought to life by a rabbi in Medieval Prague, who must protect his people from the threats of the Emperor. Paper for the original U.S. release is very scarce on this title, only a handful of lobby cards have ever turned up. This lot contains an amazing closeup scene card which shows the rabbi (Albert Steinruck) seeking the magic word to unleash his creation. A first time offer from Heritage, the piece shows only pinholes in the borders. Near Mint-.
