    Description

Lost Horizon (Columbia, 1937). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27.25" X 41") Style C, James Montgomery Flagg Artwork. From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Adapted from one of the most popular novels in the early part of the 20th Century, this blend of fantasy and modern adventure star Ronald Colman alongside Jane Wyatt, H. B. Warner, and Sam Jaffe. Frank Capra did great justice to James Hilton's original novel, the literary conception of the Utopian Shangri-La, with the film earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. Capra had used 1.1 million feet of film to cover the story, with the first cut clocking in at an astounding six hours long, which the studio then trimmed down to a still rather hefty three and a half hours. Always in high demand for its excellent and colorful image, courtesy of famed patriotic artist James Montgomery Flagg, this style C one sheet has received professional corrections to slight fold wear, fold separations, a few chips, and some of the pinholes. Still apparent are pinholes, a couple of minute chips, and small tears in the borders, but the poster still makes for a wonderful display piece.

    Estimate: $6,000 - $12,000.
