DescriptionI Married a Witch (United Artists, 1942). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
A classic romantic comedy, I Married a Witch stars the mesmerizing Veronica Lake as a long-deceased sorceress who comes back from the grave to torment the descendent (Fredric March) of the man who burned her and her father at the stake. Perhaps not the most conventional premise for a 1940s romcom, but audiences loved it. In fact, so charming was Lake's performance, it reportedly inspired the 1960s TV series Bewitched. An excellent display piece, this classic one sheet has benefitted from professional restoration to fold wear and separation, pinholes, small tears, and some chipping in the borders, particularly along the the top edge. To round out the poster's conservation, the borders and white background have been partially airbrushed.
Estimate: $2,000 - $4,000.
