    Description

Jailhouse Rock (MGM, 1957). One Sheet (27" X 41") Bradshaw Crandell Artwork.
There were three defining films in the 1950s for anyone under 21: Marlon Brando in The Wild One, James Dean in Rebel without a Cause and Jailhouse Rock, Elvis Presley's best all around film. Impossibly young and still a little dangerous, swivel-hipped Elvis fairly bristles with energy and youthful enthusiasm in this film. Thrown in the clink after he accidentally kills a man while defending the honor of a lady, he strikes up a friendship with another con (Mickey Shaughnessy) who urges him to perform in the prison talent show. Alas, post-prison success goes to the King's head, but it all works out for the best in the end. Memorable tunes include "Don't Leave Me Now," "You're So Square," and of course the title tune. Elvis Presley refused to watch the film due to co-star Judy Tyler's tragic accidental death before the film's release. Particularly memorable in the dynamic jailhouse performance of the title song. Perhaps Elvis was inspired by the presence of Gene Kelly on the set that day. Featuring an iconic image by Bradshaw Crandell, this exceptional one sheet shows very minimal wear, looking just as good as the day it was printed. Folded, Near Mint.
