    Description

Jailhouse Rock (MGM, 1957). Insert (14" X 36"). Bradshaw Crandell Artwork.
Long considered one of Elvis Presley's best films, this top '50s rock and roll musical presents Presley as a young rebel imprisoned for accidentally killing a man. Counter to his rebellious image in the film, in reality Elvis was ever the true romantic. When co-star, lovely Judy Tyler, died in a tragic car crash just before the completed film was released, Elvis refused to watch the film. Elvis plays himself for the most part, and his nature shines through effectively when confronted with pretense, providing many of the film's more enjoyable moments. The "Jailhouse Rock" number is still one of the greats in screen musical performances. There is a small bend in two corners, and a small tear in the right border. Easily the best image of the King on any of his posters, the artwork is by Bradshaw Crandell. Rolled, Very Fine+.
