    Description

Waterloo Bridge (Universal, 1931). Folded, Very Fine/Near Mint. Swedish One Sheet (27.5" X 39.5").
This was a picture that only pre-Code Hollywood could make in its true form, as the remake (in 1940 with Vivian Leigh and Robert Taylor) was restricted due to the subject matter. Mae Clarke portrays a prostitute working "waterloo bridge" where she entices and picks up her men. However, during an air raid (set in WWI) she meets a young soldier and the two fall in love. Trouble begins for real when the young soldier wants to marry her and she is haunted about telling him of her torrid past. Under the skillful direction of James Whale (Frankenstein) the picture was a dramatic masterpiece. This stone litho poster shows only light edge and fold wear, as well as pinpoint crossfold separations. Folded, Very Fine/Near Mint.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
