Description

Tobacco Road (20th Century Fox, 1941). Silk Screen Tabletop Standee (29" X 37").
During the height of the Depression, Erskine Caldwell's novel was transformed into one of the longest running Broadway plays in the history of the theatre. The producers needed a great director to handle the material and turned to veteran director John Ford who had just made another Depression era film the year before with The Grapes of Wrath. The film mixed human misery and comedy together and featured a stellar cast including Charley Grapewin and the new starlet Gene Tierney. Offered for the first time at Heritage, this standee has edge wear, creases and bends, and mild tears. There is slight paper loss in the lower right corner, staple holes in the imprint area, and some stains. A very rare piece, this silk screen standee still has its support attached to the back. Fine/Very Fine.

    Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
