The Wanderers by Jack Davis (Orion, 1979). Original Pen & Watercolor Art (14.75" X 20").
Director Philip Kaufman's look back at the gangland subculture of the early 1960s New York is a wonderful coming-of-age film. The gangs of the film include the Italians called the Wanderers, the blacks called the Del Bombers, the Fordham Baldies from the Bronx and the Asian Wongs. This great rendering and artwork is of the Del Bombers as they appear in the film in their letter jackets, done by the great Jack Davis of Mad Magazine fame. The painting was used in the campaign as was artwork by Gahan Wilson. The painting has some mild toning in the borders and paper lifts in the bottom border. The tape stain at the top and some border smudges is a result of masking the piece during the artistic process. Very Fine.

    Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
