Description

    The Two Orphans (Fox, R-1918). One Sheet (27.5" X 41") Style A.
Very rare, this style A stone litho one sheet features a captivating portrait of Theda Bara, one of the most popular stars of the early silent film era and Fox Studio's biggest star. She created and portrayed the first screen "Vamp," a temptress who squeezes money, dignity, and finally life out of men. In this film, two poor French sisters (Bara and Jean Sothern) suffer through the pains of poverty, a tale that was also the basis of D.W. Griffith's Orphans of the Storm six years later. Though this film was only Bara's seventh, she hoped that this role would finally raise her out of vamp typecasting, but it was not to be. This 1918 reissue of the 1915 film, whose poster is in very presentable condition, and shows mild crossfold separations, dust shadows at the edges, and small tears in the bottom border. Folded, Very Fine-.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
