    Description

The Street of Sin (Paramount, 1927). Insert (14" X 36").
This romantic drama was the last film from Scandinavian director Mauritz Stiller, whose lack of compatibility with Hollywood inevitably caused him to return to
Sweden. There he died, angst ridden and disillusioned just before the release of The Street of Sin. Set in the gritty Soho neighborhood of London, the picture features a burglar who goes by the name of Basher Bill (Emil Jannings) and shacks up with shady lady Olga Baclanova. Bill's rough edges are softened a bit when he meets a morally upright Salvation Army volunteer (Fay Wray). The insert offered here is a Heritage first, and touch-up has corrected pinholes in the borders, edge tears that extend slightly into the image area, and a gouge in the shadow of the top section. Rolled, Fine+.
